Call: (559) 582-2610

Jake Robinson, the youngest son of Mike and Barbara Robinson, grew up around the flooring business and hanging out at the store.  But he never saw himself actually going into the family business.  It wasn’t until he grew up that he was able to appreciate the good name and solid business that his father had built.  He wanted to become a part of continuing and building upon that legacy, so he joined the business in 2015.  Prior to that, Jake attended St. Rose-McCarthy Catholic School, Hanford West High School, and California State University Fresno where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and Finance.  Jake is married and has two beautiful children ... so far.  When not working, Jake enjoys spending time with his family, including eight nieces and nephews.

JIM COYNE

Residential Sales

Call or Text (559) 970-9970

Jim Coyne was born and raised in Pacific Grove (near Carmel).  His first job was at age 14 working at a golf course.  He picked up golf balls on the range and washed golf clubs and carts.  Legally, he wasn’t supposed to drive the carts but he did.  “What 14-year-old boy wouldn’t?” he said.  “It was a blast.”

For college, Jim graduated from California State University, Fresno with a degree in Television Communications.  At first, he worked his dream job as a sportscaster for a small station.  But it wasn’t what he thought it would be.  He didn’t like the noon to midnight hours.  “Everyone around me didn’t see their wives and kids,” he said.  “Besides that, in the broadcast world you need to be flexible to move a lot.”  That wasn’t for Jim.

He took a job working at a flooring store in Fresno.  He moved around a bit ending up at a major Fresno flooring company for about 20 years.  He began with Robinson’s Interiors in 2013.

Today, with his years of experience, Jim confidently works with all types of flooring projects, including carpet, hardwood, tile, LVT, LVP, laminate, and vinyl.

Jim enjoys his customers.  “I meet great people,” he said.  He loves helping them improve their homes with good flooring—changing it from what it was to something amazing.  He explained that his first step is to listen to the customer.  “Then I put myself in my customer’s shoes.  I ask myself what I would spend if I had their wants and their budget.”  This process helps Jim help his customers.  “The best part is after the job is done.  I enjoy going out to their house and seeing their happiness with what we provided.”

When he’s not working, Jim likes to spend time with his family.  Right now, his son is involved in football and his daughter plays softball.  “We’re busy traveling, watching games, and supporting our kids’ teams.”

JIM HICKCOX

Sales Representative

Call or Text: (916) 825-4599

Jim Hickcox has a rich background in our business having worked in flooring sales since 1985, mostly in the Sacramento area.  When he moved to Fresno, he contacted Robinson’s Interiors and came on board in 2018.

Jim’s first sales job was in a men’s clothing store back in 1958 where he worked for $1.25 hour.  This job helped him create a framework for serving his customers the rest of his life.  He said, “I realized when someone walks into a store they are walking into the store for a reason.  It’s my job to figure that out. I still strive to make it a point to converse with customers and find out what their true needs are.”

He is particularly knowledgeable about hardwood flooring.  “In all the flooring I put in, I really enjoy putting in hardwood,” he said.  “I love to help clients pick out the best hardwood for their situation.”

Jim also enjoys the new hardwood-look luxury vinyl plank products that are waterproof.  “I’ve watched that industry since it first started and they keep making the product better and better.”

Another specialty area for Jim is flooring for multi-unit apartment buildings.  “I had one customer with a 275 unit apartment complex and 15 different models.  I worked with the customer, the contractor, and the interior decorator.  Things don’t always look the same on a job site as they do on paper.  So it’s important to be on site to know exactly what needs to be done and to make sure things are done the right way.”

“Making sure things are done right leads to happy customers and that’s how I get the most satisfaction,” he said.

The best advice Jim every received was from a priest who said, “If you do your best and put the best effort forward, you’ll have more success in life than you thought you would.”

When Jim is not working, he enjoys golf and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

MATT KARLE

Matt Karle's is a lifelong resident of Sanger, California.  He enjoyed growing up in the small town community and enjoys raising his family there.

His first job was as a busboy at DiCicco’s.  There, he learned the value of hard work.  “As a 16 year old you realize that money is not just going to be handed to you.  You gotta work for it,” he said.

Matt began his flooring career in Sanger where he worked for a dealer.  He began in the warehouse. After five years, he got a chance to take a sales job and worked in that capacity for another 23 years until the store closed.  During that time, he attended numerous training classes put on by major flooring brands.
